American Ride, Stan Ellsworth, Review

American Ride

.

Host of AMERICAN RIDE, Stan Ellsworth breaks the mold of the stereotypical High School history teacher.

Former history teacher Stan Ellsworth tours the country on a Harley Davidson for the television show “American Ride.” Ellsworth’s approach to American history in AMERICAN RIDE removes the “bow tie and sweater vest” of history professors, puts on the “skull rag and denim vest” and breaks down stereotypes. His adventurous spirit and love for the United States is contagious and engaging. His approach is more like an invitation to walk (and ride) with him through the footsteps of history. He hopes the stories and “postcards” from the highways and byways of the country will make American history relevant to today’s audiences, and motivate them to take an active part in the preservation of the values this country was built upon.

Now in the sixth season, Stan takes you across the world to see how the clouds of war gathered once again and what led America to enter WWII. New episodes air each Monday 9PM ET/ 7PM MT on BYUtv. If you’ve missed any episodes, you can catch up with all of the previous seasons online anytime at www.byutv.com/americanride

My Thoughts:

As you know, at times I’m able to present talent that covers the audio, visual, and performing artists. But it’s not often I’m able to share something that brings the authors of American History to the world. When I undertook spotlighting American Ride, I was able to choose one of the programs from series six. I’ll admit I’d seen a few of the shows in the past, so I knew I’d like whichever I chose, but when I watched one, well, I had to keep going.

Stan Ellsworth does an amazing job of presenting history. After all, the big guy screams, “listen, what I have to say holds merit”. And let’s face it, a Harley is as American a ride as you can get! (Yes, I l-o-v-e me a Harley ride!!) But all of that aside, Stan’s personality and love of history shines as he tells the stories of our past. His anger, disgust, elation, and reverence show through when he speaks of the victories and peril of those involved.

The show uses excellent audio, visual, and a variety of techniques to teach the audience. From Stan’s man cave to the open road, to charts and guests on the show, the mix keeps us following the host through his travels of history.

As I never use a star point system when I review/give my thoughts here on Highlighted Author Special Interest, I’ll highly recommend American Ride on all counts.

About AMERICAN RIDE’s Host:

Stan

The 6’ 2”, 300-lb muscle-clad Harley Davidson-riding host of BYUtv’s acclaimed American history program, American Ride, would like nothing better than to inspire the next generation of George Washingtons, Susan B. Anthonys and Thomas Jeffersons. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and raised in the Carolinas, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and Pennsylvania, Stan Ellsworth was steeped in the landmarks and stories of American history throughout his formative years. His family lineage includes such historic luminaries as Revolutionary War patriot Ethan Allen; both Generals of the Cival War, Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant (also the 18th president of the U.S.); and American folk heroes Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett.

Ellsworth’s goal—both when he was in the classroom, and now in his weekly television program—has always been to “wake people up” to the stories of our founding fathers and mothers, and to the sacrifices they made in creating this nation. In his gruff baritone voice, he speaks eloquently of our heritage and extols the wisdom and bravery of those who came before.

    1. Hi Kristy, thanks for stopping by. American Ride was a special presentation of BYUtv’s show, American Ride. It’s not in book form. Sorry. Check out BYUtv for Stan Ellsworth’s great show!

  1. I hated history in school so did my husband now we love our history teacher and can’t wait for his next class awesome show I’m always saying to my husband ” I didn’t know that “

  2. Love your show you are one of a kind never liked history in school but can’t miss your shows my boy and I can’t get enough of it

  3. I have watched American Ride for years, and have met Stan Ellsworth personally. The show is remarkable in it’s content but more empressively how he presents that content. He is a true American and loves his country. I would have been very blessed to have him as my history teacher throughout school. We need more people like him!

  4. So, state’s rights, and opposition to the idea that the federal government can intervene or legislate state policy, is gone, when the GOP government wants to prove a point? Or exert control, whether it is over the ability of a state to provide protection to the families who live in it, or over women’s reproductive choices? Tyranny is tyranny. Or are there certain lacunae, in the eyes of the GOP, and the Libertarians?

  5. The left-wing judiciary has overcome all checks and balances from the Executive and Legislative branches. So far they have determined that the Executive cannot protect the borders or deport illegal immigrants. Open borders are the cause celeb for the left. They don’t care about laws, or crime or the victims of illegal immigrants. Apparently it’s even legal to harbor criminals. Sanctuary cities can make their own laws and have become the ultimate authority on our lives. Whether you realize it, a Mayor in San Francisco or an aspiring Attorney General in Hawaii you never even had the right to vote for now hold your lives in their hands and have determined that you are worth nothing to them. I won’t forget.

  6. Besides, if local law enforcement want and need the cooperation of immigrants communities to root out criminals among them, those communities can’t feel threatened that they will be questioned about their status here.

  7. I think this is one of the most vital info for me. And i am glad reading your article. But want to remark on some general things, The site style is ideal, the articles is really excellent : D. Good job, cheers
